Flower Petals Falling Down: How to be a Flower Girl

Authors: Shannon Gold, Erica Gold, and Corey N. Massar
Average review score:

Great idea
I purchased two copies of this book for two soon-to-be flowergirls. What a great idea to make sure they feel included in the wedding and to show them how important they are on that big day.

Delightful How-to Guide
After reading this book, you know everything that's needed to have fun as a flower girl. I think this would make any little child who is going to participate in the wedding of a loved one more at ease with the entire experience. Having the basket and petals built in was a really nice touch.

Flowergirl Book
I have read this book and think the authors did a very nice job in explaining the process of being a flowergirl from beginning to end. The illustrations were lovely. It is a great book for prospective flowergirls.

A Tidal Wave of Love and Liberation!
I have read both of Scott and Shannon's books and have found them to be true sources for coming to terms with love and a peaceful understanding of self worth. The interactive format is really a great way to share their message. A must read for anyone in desiring to contact their magnificent self!

A liberating experience!
Very easy reading but with a profound, substantive, message. The quizzes and the exercises were really helpful. I've already reread it several times. I have learned the importance of listening continually for Love's guidance and to live in oneness with Divine Love. Thank you Scott and Shannon for writing this beautiful book and sharing it with the world!

Millennium Celebration Record Book

For My Children
Keeping records in photographs has been one of our family traditions. Finally there is a book that records all of the other details of life. I received the Millennium Celebration Record Book as a Christmas gift, and I will use it to record our family reunion in July. Our family has always kept records: one shelf of the closet is full of photo albums, and with this book I will have noted things that may be of interest to my descendants, and also a slice-of-life from our age in North America.

In Nova Scotia, it is only 10 years since we have had to use 7 digits in the phone numbers. Now my cousin in Toronto needs to use 9 digits for a local call. All of these things change so quickly that we just don't notice. This book will help us remember what life was like.

When Are You Gonna Get Yours?
This is definetly something that everyone should have under their tree, or in their stocking. I purchased my Millenium Celebration Record Book the second I heard one of my co-workers talking about it, at our Staff Christmas party. Everyone watched in awe as it slowly made it's way around the tables, accompanied by "OOOH'S", "AAAH'S", and bursts of laughter. I received my own copy only four days ago and it is already half full. I just never realized how quickly the times were changing until I started to document the different tasks I was performing each and every day. I wonder if my grandchildren will laugh at the term "E-MAIL", as hard as I laughed when my own grandparents told me the about the new "Horse-less Buggy"! I'm sure they will love seeing exactly what a one dollar bill was too. Thank you, Shannon Rose, you have guaranteed my family years of history, in a medium that will never be a victim of technology.

A personal record, beautifully presented, a great keepsake
Finally a book that offers some fun about the Millennium. You can write down what your freinds are wearing, what they drive, how you contact them, and all the other information that will be hilarious to read in 20 years time. This book offers the opportunity to observe the trivialities of every-day-ness. Things are moving so quickly that we rarely stop to notice that - Hey, our girlfreinds are wearing sparkles on their faces or Hey, our boyfreinds are rollerblading and playing video games. Will this stuff be happening in 25 years? What a neat way to record "A Day In The Life" in the year 2000.

Moose Racks, Bear Tracks and Other Alaska Kidsnacks: Cooking With Kids Has Never Been So Easy
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (August, 2002)

So easy cooking
My kids love to bake the simple and tasty treats out of this book all by themselves.

Really Great Kids Cookbook!
I have purchased several children's cookbooks recently, but this book has by far been the one we have used the most! It is really easy to use and has some very cute recipes in it. Everything is easy for the children to make and it all has been very good to eat. The cute little Alaskan themed names are unique as well. I highly recommend this book!

Alaska Kidsnacks Cookbook
I'm a media specialist and I used this book for my first grade's Alaska Day held in the media center. I used several recipes for a cooking station that the students visited. They loved making the recipes because they were fun, easy, and had Alaskan names. They especially loved the snack-- Denali Peaks. Since the snacks are named after geographic locations, it was a great way to integrate a geography lesson, too. After we made the snacks, first graders located the town or region that the snack was named on a map. Kudos to the creator of this wonderful cookbook which makes a wonderful teaching resource on Alaska!

Morningstar Mutual Fund 500: 1996-97 (Annual.)
Published in Paperback by Morningstar (January, 1996)
Authors: Shannon Poley, Betsy Grace, Susan Paluch, Kristin Hamley, and Inc Morningstar
Average review score:

An outstanding reference tool
This is a great reference tool. I was somewhat disappointed that some smaller funds with outstanding track records were excluded; however, with over 9,000 funds available the authors had to draw the line somewhere.

WONDERFUL!
This book is a wonderful source of mutual fund data. I am just a an average joe who needed some help in the investment world. With this book, I was able to avoid those money grubbing brokers and get business handled on my own terms. I have told all my family and friends about this book and they are just as pleased as I am. I suggest that you let Morningstar do the hard research and number crunching for you, too.

Simply indispensable!
Morningstar is the reason that I have been able to retire early. Much earlier than I ever thought possible. I have recommended their various publications to friends of mine, who have all come up to thank me later on. And the folks at Morningstar are just beautiful people.

One God, Shared Hope: Twenty Threads Shared by Judaism, Christianity, and Islam
Published in Paperback by Red Wheel/Weiser (May, 2003)
Authors: Maggie Oman Shannon and Maggie Oman Shannon
Average review score:

To Inspire and Encourage Along the Path
"One God, Shared Hope" invites us to share a thoughtful, from the heart conversation about what it means to be a person of faith, and how that meaning resonates and echoes among Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The desire to do good, to know and love God, to be faithful and to flow love from our hearts for all of God's creation is universal.

The more we think we are different, the more we are really the same. The similarities in the scriptures of our faiths vividly affirm how alike we really are.

The book is easily read from beginning to end, or better yet, can be used as a starting point for personal meditation upon any one of the twenty "threads" Oman Shannon uses to weave this luminous cloth. There are even threads within the threads. When brought together, the depth of color and texture invites one back again and again, each time something a little bit different allowing itself to be seen.

I've read other books about the unifying themes of Islam, Judaism and Christianity. They seemed over-arching in theme and somewhat abstract. Oman Shannon speaks to me, as one person of faith to another, inspiring and encouraging me along the way, so that I may also inspire and encourage.

And isn't that what it's all about?

One Heart, One Mind....
My heart literally beats with more lightness and vibrance as I read this enlightening book.

A student of "Oneness" between spiritual traditions, I was delighted to read this new offering. Maggie Oman Shannon introduces scripture selections with artful prose which mirrors and calls forth the scripture and principals in question.

I can see myself suggesting this book to many people who have yet to realize our many "likenesses" between the descendents of Abraham.

In fact, the book reminds me that we are ALL unified... whether our beliefs come from Judaism, Christianity, and Islam or any other faith. Our hearts connect us just as this book connected me so surely with its message.

Peaceful book for turbulent times
By directly comparing great principles from the scriptures of Christianity, Judaism and Islam, "One God, Shared Hope" shows that these religions have shared goals of peace among nations and cultures. In turbulent times, this message of unity is indeed welcome, and should be shared with family and friends.

The book is unique and valuable on another level, as well. The principles expressed are the basis for personal spiritual growth and well-being. We can never have enough inspiration in this direction. A quiet reading of this book can do wonders for the soul.

Ook the Book

Authors: Lissa Rovetch and Shannon McNeill
Average review score:

Great Book! I am on, on the Jon!
This is a great book! We started making up our own ryhmes (like in the book). Here are some (in progress):
I am on, on the Jon!

I am air, air the chair. I am bare, please do not stare!

Tons of Fun
Lissa Rovetch has taken some of the fundamental phonics sounds, in reading and authored a marvelous collection of simple, silly, tongue twisting poems that's perfect for pre-schoolers and beginning readers. Meet AKE the snake who can bake a cake, UG the bug and his friend Glug the slug, ING the thing who brings string to the king or ID the kid who hid a squid, to name just a few. Shannon McNeill's colorful, expressive and detailed illustrations, showing these zany characters in funny and engaging situations, will have youngsters laughing out loud. With its easy, repetitive style and wonderful artwork, little ones will be "reading" right along with you, in no time. Perfect for youngsters 3-7, Ook The Book is a winner that will charm and delight everyone in the family.

I'd give it 10 stars if I could!
I love this book! The illustrations are beautiful! The characters are so charming and each page is a jewel. The writing is fun and will have you bouncing along from page to page. One of the lovliest illustrated books I've ever seen! It's fun for all ages!

The Other Side of What
Published in Paperback by Xlibris Corporation (May, 2003)
Author: Shannon L. Yarbrough
Average review score:

Great Summer Read!!
This is a must read for the summer. The book is cleverly written and the reader is constantly guessing himself and the characters in the book. The main character has a secret but soon learns that everyone close to him has a secret as well. This book will you keep you up late at night until the very end. This is the first book written by Shannon Yarbrough and I for one look forward to reading many more to come.

"Other Side of What" a breath of fresh air
"The Other Side of What" opened my eyes to what I never thought I'd find--good gay fiction. So many gay authors attempt to (and usually successfully do) use sex to sell their books, disregarding the fact that many gays want to read good fiction that involves gay characters. Yarbrough magnificently achieves this with a moving story about fate, friendship, love and the hauntings of the past. Read this book if you're tired of the same sex-driven plots mired with tedious, predictable pretenses. Thanks to Yarbrough for bringing someone back to the fold.

The Other Side of What....You will never guess!!!
This splendid gay love story takes place in the center of the south. The book is a non-stop page turner, that will have the reader guessing who is telling the truth and who is not. The main character Matthew, is brillantly charming but has a hard time telling the truth to himself and others. He has a secret that only leds to more which in the end could cost him his relationship with his friends and even his brother. Matthew's trials and tribulations come to a conclusion when the people closest to him deliver their shocking secrets which asks the question, "Does everything happen for a reason, or are events just coincidental?"

This book is a great summer read. First time writer Shannon Yarbrough delivers a story of intrigue that you just can not stop reading. I look forward to future books by him, which I can only guess will be as good as his debut novel.

Prayers for Healing: 365 Blessings, Poems, & Meditations from Around the World
Published in Hardcover by Conari Press (October, 1997)
Authors: Maggie Oman Shannon, Maggie Oman, and Larry Dossey

Prayers for Healing: 365 Blessings, Poems and Meditations fr
I read this book every day. It has enriched my spiritual life tremendously. Now I give it to friends and family. We all have places in our lives and selves that need to be healed-- this book speaks to many of those different dimensions.

An Ecumenical Assessment of the Soul
I was knee deep in the muck, as they say. My mother had passed away much too early in life for me to make any sense of it, and directly thereafter i was going through a painful divorce. I was bitter. This book is for those of you that believe that God is in all things. That pain is a medium for growth, and as A. Powell Davies would say, " . . . There comes a gentleness, a returning quietness, a restoring stillness. This too is a door to life. Here also is a deepening of meaning - and it can lead to dedication, a going forward to the triumph of the soul, the conquering of the wilderness. And in the process will come a deepening inward knowledge that in the final reckoning, all is well."

Not just for "healing" in the narrow sense.
If you, or someone you know, needs healing of some sort, this interfaith book of calendar meditations can help; but, even if not, the prayers for the healing of society, the healing of the world, are appropriate for anyone to pray. The selections range from ancient times to modern, some are deeply religious, some are more secular. I got multiple copies of this, two years ago, and I have given away my last copy; now I'm ordering one more, for me. The book is divided by the seasons of the year. It is compact enough to travel easily. Even if you already have a daily devotional book, this is worthwhile as a supplement.

Present Moment Awareness System Deluxe Kit
Published in Hardcover by Present Moment, Inc. (01 November, 2001)
Author: Shannon Duncan
Average review score:

PMA is a eye opening experience
I was really impressed with Present Moment Awareness. I have read many self help books and feel this book is a boiled down version of what I was looking for all along. Its the only self awareness book I can honestly say makes a difference in my day to day life. Interesting ,enlightening and easy to follow. The author makes complicated issues easy to understand. It is the most important book I have ever read for self improvement!

Thank You Mr.Duncan!

Rich Matthews

Well done indeed!
Cudos to Shannon Duncan for putting together such an awesome package.

First you get his book, which is already a word of mouth hit. It opened my eyes to so very much...

Second you get the focus tool, which I was pretty skeptical about - but have found that I use it all the time and am amazed at how often it works just exactly as Shannon had intended. It goes off when I am least expecting it, I do the quick exercises from the book (the "core" exercises) and as the weeks and months have gone by, I really do see a difference in how I go about my day and how I am feeling about my life.

Third is the CD. I was genuinely surprised at this! This CD is AWESOME! I've been practicing meditation for years and was totally amazed at how deeply relaxed I was in both mind and body when listening to it. My favorite is track 3, Deep Serenity. I don't really understand the technology at work here, but it sounds just like I'm there, sitting on the beach, with sounds in 3D all around me (you have to use headphones for the 3D effect). I've purchased several more Audio Serenity CDs and use them almost every day!

You also get a video, which is very brief. I don't really find it all that useful, but it was cool to get to see the author and hear him talk about how to get started. I guess I have been applying that advice.

Lastly you get a small booklet. The idea is that you are supposed to carry it with you, and read from it now and again. I didn't find it all that useful, but gave it a read anyway. Once I understood the core exercises, I really didn't need it.

I would certainly recommend this to anyone. If you'd like a book like Shannons, then you'd love this package.

Very, very cool! Very, very clever! Very, very useful!
I bought this system over the Internet at the PMA site several months ago. It has Shannons book, Present Moment Awareness, as well as all of these really great tools to support us in our efforts to become more present and enjoy our lives more.

The video is pretty short, but was helpful just the same. The pocket reference guide is a little book with quotes and exercises in it. I didn't think that it would be helpful, but I've used it now and again and have found myself looking more closely at how I was living my life at that moment. But, the Focus Tool, is just great! I use it all the time, and it never fails to amaze me how well it works for its intended purpose.

A person could certainly get a lot out of this great book, and buy it by itself. The whole kit isn't necessary. But, it IS really, really useful. I recommend it!
